Discover the magic of Costa Rica on a 5-night, 6-day adventure centered around the Arenal Volcano, one of the country’s most breathtaking natural wonders. This land extension perfectly complements your Cocos Island liveaboard, blending rainforest exploration, wildlife encounters, and relaxation in true Pura Vida style.
Your journey begins in San José, where you’ll be welcomed to the vibrant capital before traveling north through the Central Valley. Along the way, stop at the mighty Poás Volcano and explore the spectacular La Paz Waterfall Gardens, home to hummingbirds, toucans, butterflies, and cascading jungle falls, before continuing on to La Fortuna at the base of Arenal.
In La Fortuna, each day brings new experiences. Walk high above the forest on the famous Arenal Hanging Bridges, hike down to the base of the La Fortuna Waterfall, and join locals for a hands-on tortilla-making lunch. That evening, slip into the soothing pools of EcoTermales Hot Springs, a private family-run retreat limited to just 100 visitors at a time — making this scheduled visit both intimate and unforgettable.
Embark on a full-day excursion to the Caño Negro Wildlife Refuge, one of the most important wetlands in the world. On a riverboat safari along the Río Frío, you’ll encounter monkeys, sloths, caimans, turtles, iguanas, and an astonishing variety of birds. Guided by expert naturalists, this day is designed to showcase the raw biodiversity that makes Costa Rica world-famous.
This extension offers the perfect balance of adventure and rejuvenation. From volcanoes and waterfalls to rare wildlife and volcanic hot springs, every moment is carefully crafted — the ideal way to immerse yourself in Costa Rica before embarking on your epic dive journey to Cocos Island.

This Costa Rica extension is the perfect prelude to your Isla Del Coco - Cocos Island Aggressor Liveaboard. After exploring volcanoes, waterfalls, hot springs, and rainforests on land, you’ll set sail from Puntarenas to one of the most legendary dive destinations on the planet: Isla del Coco.
Often called the “Galápagos of Central America,” Cocos Island lies 342 miles off Costa Rica’s Pacific coast and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site known for epic big-animal encounters. This is bucket-list diving at its finest. Imagine dropping beneath the waves into schools of hundreds of hammerhead sharks, with white-tip reef sharks, Galápagos sharks, tiger sharks, and silky sharks cruising nearby. Giant manta rays, whale sharks, and pods of dolphins are frequent visitors, while massive schools of jacks and barracuda swirl around volcanic pinnacles.
Every dive feels like a cinematic moment — cleaning stations buzzing with life, pelagic species passing in the blue, and dramatic underwater landscapes shaped by lava flows. From the famous Bajo Alcyone seamount to Dirty Rock and Manuelita Channel, Cocos delivers nonstop action.
Travel is an investment, and we strongly recommend purchasing travel insurance. For all travelers joining us on international trips we recommend DiveAssure for dive accident insurance and travel insurance. Dive accident insurance can protect you in the event of a dive-related injury and is strongly recommended for all of our guests. Travel insurance can protect you in the event of an unexpected trip cancellation or trip interruption and can also cover lost or damaged luggage expenses, unexpected itinerary changes, and more. Having insurance offers peace of mind and ensures you’re fully covered throughout your adventure, or in the unlikely event that you are unable to make your adventure.
