The vessel has an head (restroom) complete with a hot water shower, and light snacks and water for divers.The boat will depart from K-Dock at the Monterey Bay Harbor at 8am. Recommended arrival time is 7AM to gear up and prepare to board the boat. Parking onsite is available for a fee. Restrooms are also available onsite. The boat is expected to return into the harbor around 12:30PM.Divers will also be required to sign a waiver for the Beachhopper II, and any underage divers attending will need the signature of a parent or legal guardian on the waiver to participate. Divers will also need to present an Open Water Diver certification (or higher).

About this trip

A fabulous trip in The Channel Island on The Peace Live-aboard!

This was my second trip and I loved all the new places Captain JP anchored at. 
The leader of the trip, Rich Dewitt, was attentive and provided great support!

Daily program is easy to follow: get up, suit up, eat, dive and repeat up to 5 times a day!  Can’t beat that! 

The marine life is exceptional, I saw sharks, moray and wolf eels, lobsters, picked up scallops, 

I cannot wait to catch my first lobster in October. 

Channel Islands - July 2025

Well organized and the best boat crew. The food was unbelievable, the deck crew were very patient while always keeping with safe procedures, but still making it fun. And of course, I always felt safe with our captains at the helm. The divers in the group were a lot of fun to share this adventure with.  And finally what a great trip leader, as always...Rich Dewitt

Wonderful trip! The crew was knowledgeable and  helpful regarding dive sites. The food was great too! It was clear that the Peace and her crew really have scuba diving in mind for every traveller.

This was a fun trip.  The sea-life and coral reefs were amazing.  The dives were fairly easy, except for 2 days of very rough seas.  However, we dove anyway.  The boat was nice, but had some ragged edges.  The rooms were very small, no place to stow your clothes.  The floor boards in my room were coming apart.  The staff was very friendly and supportive.  The food was good.  The travel coordination was good.

Atlantis Adventurer Liveaboard Tubbataha Philippines - May 2025

This was our second time visiting Atlantis Dumaguete, and it was even better than the first. From the accommodations to the resort amenities, staff, food, and especially our dive master Harnold, we had a great time!

Atlantis Resort Dumaguete - May 2025

Great trip. Would be awesome with better conditions, which I know they get. There was a day delay in getting out of the harbor due to a Coast Guard warning. Ship crew made the right call, so it is an unforeseeable circumstance. However, this cost us some dive opportunities and we didn't get any night dives in due to conditions. We had the opportunity to dive sites at both Santa Cruz and Anacapa Islands. I liked that most dive site offered different opportunities and even with the 23+ divers on the boat, my buddy team hardly ever saw the other divers and felt like we had the whole ocean to ourselves. There is rock diving, pinnacle diving, wall diving, sandy bottom diving and at all different depths. Saw some awesome sea creatures (GSB, leopard shark, playful seals, rays, eels, lobsters, octopi, etc.). Definitely will come back, as I would love to come back when there isn't a red tide haunting us, as I can assume that some of these dive site would be even better. Highly recommend the Peace Dive Boat and the crew. They run a really great operation. Thank you for making what could have been a bad trip into the best that it could be!

Channel Islands - May 2025

Absolutely amazing trip to the Channel Island!  I am still on cloud nine after spending the long Memorial weekend with the Dolphin Scuba team: Rich D, Brandon Mc, Joe and Sara P.  Having all the support and familiarity of my instructors made my experience so unique and powerful: I was set for success. The attention of the team made for an amazing, enjoyable and SAFE experience despite the FAST MOVING water!  I have learned in those few days a lifetime of experience. 

The Peace crew was professional yet very engaging. I felt safe under the Captain and crew’s authority.  They know what they are doing. Diving sites were clearly explained and the repetitive diving was absolutely awesome!

I was concerned about the “rustic” aspect of the boat but it is safe, clean and provides what we need: shelter, safety, food and diving spots with quick refills! 

I cannot wait to go back in July!  I made new friends and looking forward to discovering hopefully calmer water around the islands to meet again with sea lions, octopus, Garibaldis etc.  (not the chocolate lol). 

I had a great time! Learned so much. Everyone from Dolphin Swim School was amazing, super helpful and accommodating. The crew on The Peace Boat was amazing, great food  and plenty of it, helpful, and friendly!! This will not be my last trip for sure! I can’t wait to go again! This was our first dive trip, and everyone was incredibly patient, friendly, and helpful. 
The instructors all went out of their way to make sure we felt comfortable and had a fun, safe dive every dive. 
The crew was also amazing, everyone was very friendly and entertaining.  
The food was amazing, we were so surprised at the quality (and quantity) of the meals and snacks.  
We were nervous about being brand new divers, but the crew and the instructors were all so patient and friendly, we felt very comfortable very quickly.  
I can't recommend this trip enough, we had the best time!!

Wonderful dive staff, clean boat, good food.  I would not hesitate to go back and experience Tubbataha again.

The week at Atlantis Dumaguete was wonderful.  Good food, phenomenal staff, great diving, outstanding dive guides, and clean, bright, well maintained rooms.  The diving as always was great with May being frog fish season but we still saw a mimic and blue ring octopi though they are more common in November.  Dive guides were great as always and the Black Water Dives were spectacular (Did my first last year).  Spa treatments are very reasonable and fill up on the non-dive days before groups turnover so schedule early!  A couple of quick suggestions to management, consider offering some local treats in the store like dried mango, chocolate covered mango/banana chips, cashews, coffee, chocolate, etc.  Great snacks for there but also for packing to take home as souvenirs. Also maybe consider selling the sarongs used in the spa as they are beautiful and a great size!

Tubbataha is a great destination but going through Dolphin Scuba makes a huge difference.  They make the trip easy from clear instructions and information to reminders, to onsite personnel to having “Save a Dive” kits and anything else you could need as you forgot something.  Melissa was our onsite Dolphin coordinator and not only is she a great dive buddy but made sure that she checked to see if anyone was having issues so she could fix them.  However the Atlantis team made that unnecessary. The ship is in top shape with no issues that I was aware of, the espresso machine worked, the crew was beyond excellent, and the food is exceptional. Several of us had dietary restrictions (allergies or illness related) and they accommodated seamlessly and deliciously.  The boat ran like clockwork which made the diving an exceptionally efficient.  I cannot praise the ship team enough.  Of course the diving was great but that really goes without saying!

fellow travelers.  Sad to see the coral bleaching.  
The boat still needs a bit more work for safety, especially around the stairs (railings) and water leaks in the bathroom.

Connections from airport to boat and return were solid.  Food was great and plentiful.  Good crew even if most of them didn't speak English.

Great group of divers to share the journey with. Crew on boat took excellent care of us and all our needs. Diving was decent though frustrating when visibility prevents really seeing sealife. Definitely had some great moments though not nearly the sightings of the highlights i had hoped for. Food was okay. Leader Juan leaves room for improvement for a leader on a trip for this level, took too long with briefings the seemed to not really guide us underwater with the experience of a seasoned pro. 

I had to cancel for medical reasons. Due to air pressure changes while flying and diving, I was advised not to go. This turned out not to be a problem, and I was okay to go, but it was two months later!

Iberostar Waves Cozumel Mexico - February 2025

Mike and Dolphin SCUBA just did a stellar job keeping us busy touring Vietnam. We visited the Mekong River floating market, several restaurants and businesses in the area, as well as some local entertainment.  The "American War" museum was so fascinating and the tunnels the North Vietnamese Army used during the war was like taking a trip back to the Vietnam war.  It was a full week packed with history, culture and entertainment.  Our Vietnamese guide was a wealth of knowledge but the most amazing thing to me was the customer service.  I never knew I would have to go to a communist country to find the best customer service I have ever experienced.  Bravo Mike and Co.

The following will be a very long and in depth look at our trip in February, 2025, aboard the M/V Valentina to Socorro. 
First of all, I have to say this was a once in a lifetime (but I will try and come back) trip that should be a bucket list item for any serious diver. If you want to see the Oceanic Manta, you are nearly guaranteed to see them, interact with them and spend lots of quality time with them. They are very curious about divers and will come within arm’s length on many dives (12 out of 16 dives this trip). Scalloped hammerhead sharks were seen often, generally not as close but did encounter them within 10 yards a few times. Other sharks were too numerous to count with many experiences being of the “up close and personal” variety. The actual Island of Socorro does have some reef but it is very young. This trip is much less about small fish and more about the big kids though, so just know that is what you are going to see. Roca Partida and San Benedicto are essentially rock. That said, they have their own unusual features such as the “balconies” at Roca Partida where sharks rest in large groups (imagine a “puppy pile” of sharks). 
Diving
For the diving, the National Park severely limits the number of divers and thus dictates the number of dives you will get during your trip. It is not up to the boat captain. The daily schedule is determined by the order by which the boats arrived at that site that day. The first boat gets the 7:00am dive time. The second gets the 8:00am slot. The third gets the 9:00am. spot. If there is not a fourth boat, the pattern repeats. If there is a fourth boat, they get the 10:00am slot. Divers are only allowed to do 50 minute dives regardless of air consumption as dictated by the National Park and there can only be one boat diving a site at a time (all great things for the reef). So basically, we had just one day where we could do 4 dives in a day (i.e. we were the first boat on site). With 6 boats in the area and winds during the week, it severely limits the sites that are available (Roca Partida for example is not diveable if it is very windy as there is no shelter for the boats). In total for this trip, we had 17 dives availalbe but were limited by engine troubles on the way to the islands and an electrical issue with the anchor on our second to last day diving (without those I suspect we would have been at 20). Every boat must also check in with the Mexican Navy on Socorro Island which will limit the number of dives that day. Overall, most of the boats play by the rules and try and accommodate each other to “share the wealth” if you will. Dives are generally deep, 90 feet plus for most so the 50-minute limit is often not a huge issue. If you consume a lot of air, the 100cuft tanks are worth it. The current varies on every dive, from “ripping” to nothing and even diving the same site just 3 hours apart can be amazingly different. In all but one of our dives we were able to get out of the currents mostly, using the island and rock formations (lava flows) to our advantage. 
The Boat
The dive deck has decent space. There is a large camera table with compressed air available. There are two clean water tanks for cameras to get rinsed after the dive as well as a tank for other gear and wetsuits to get rinsed. You use one tank for the entirety of the trip and it is refilled after each dive at your station (so no swapping of BCDs and regs). Everyone on this trip dove Nitrox and equipment was available to check your %. The actual dives occur from RIBs (Rigid Inflatable Boats). For the Valentina, if capable, they request you wear your gear to the 4 stairs on the side of the boat and step down one more step into the RIB. They will load your camera gear (and seemed to take excellent care of it). If you are not able to do that, they will load your gear into the RIB and you will get into your BCD on the RIB. When over the site, you perform a rear seated entry into the water and initiate your dive. Our 17 divers were split into three groups and there were two RIBs. Group 1 goes into the water and that RIB returns to get group 3 and your group number rotates each day. Our dive masters also rotated daily. On our trip, we had Arturo (been doing this for 31 years), Ophelia (dive instructor who owns here own shop) and Guillermo. All were qualified and took care for your safety but allowed different dive abilities to dive at their own pace. They were very helpful with less experienced divers, helping them grow in their abilities over the week. At the end of each dive, you hand your weight belts/pockets up to the RIB driver first, followed by taking off your BCD and they lift that into the boat, then your fins. You must climb a small ladder (2-3 steps) to get back into the boat and some ability to pull yourself up onto the ladder is required. When back to the boat, you climb the stairs without any gear back onto the boat. The staff brings your gear back to your spot and places cameras into the rinse tanks. There were hangers to help get some of the water out of your wetsuit between dives but you will be wet for the week. Towels were provided on deck. A GPS device is provided for each buddy team free of charge (unless it gets lost, in which case you will pay $350 I believe- it happened on our trip so be sure to secure it well- bring some larger split rings or something to help secure it rather than the parachute cord which often came undone). We brought the Garmin In-Reach and were able to send basic text messages to home, letting people know how things were going which they appreciated. StarLink is available for an additional charge but it was nice not participating and essentially being disconnected for the week (we did not know the Eagles were victorious until Tuesday). The boat, while showing its age as a dive boat and being somewhat worn, was impeccably clean. The rooms are small and do vary in size. Rooms 3, 9 and 10 are the largest with a closet (we had number 10). Rooms are tidied during your morning dives, beds made, towels refreshed every couple of days. They have some storage for larger luggage and dive bags.
The Water
The water temperatures on our trip ranged from 72-75 degrees Fahrenheit. The air temps were pleasant, but the winds made it chilly when you came back on the boat (thank God for hot freshwater showers on deck!!). I wore a two-piece, Sharkskin Titanium 2 under a 3mm jacket and 1.5mm pants and was comfortable on every dive. I brought a hood but never wore it (most others did). My wife wore her Titanium 2 under a 3mm full Henderson and was comfortable as well. I have 5mm booties. You will definitely appreciate the concept of heat deficiency as the week progresses though and will feel cooler after each dive. Visibility was generally decent but varied considerably dive to dive, as did the currents. You get lots of warnings about currents, swells, etc., but fortunately we were lucky and saw ripping currents on only one dive. The guides were good about trying to get us out of the currents using the islands as protection when possible. 
The Staff
The staff was universally AWESOME!  From the Captain through the assistant chef/room steward, they wanted to make you happy and comfortable. My wife had a bit of sickness one day and they made her special foods and all kept asking how she was doing. The food was good to great, depending on the meal, but better than I expected to be honest. This was only this chef’s second cruise with Valentina, so I am sure getting used to the kitchen and getting menus set is still very much a work in progress. The Ceviche lunch between dives one of the days was to die for!!  If you had restrictions or even just didn’t care for something, it was never an issue making something else. 
The Money
Fees were probably the thing we severely underestimated when booking this trip. The National Marine Park fees are over $1100 per person. There are discounts available for retired persons or teachers, but this must be applied for prior to going (wish we had known that). Nitrox, 100cuft cylinders, internet, etc all are for fee as well and are posted on the Valentina website I believe. The taxes at Customs at the airport was also annoying. If you have your camera gear in a Pelican case, you can bet you will be stopped and will get taxed. For an Ikelite housing and camera, I paid $5800 pesos (about $300). You have to pay with a credit card and they tack on an additional 19% for that. The number seems arbitrary, but they take info off your case and supposedly look it up in the computer. Valentina actually wrote a letter to try and help with this, but they ignored it.  The customs agent also played the “I don’t speak English” game and used his phone to pretend like he was translating. I can tell you every foreign person in the Customs office (three groups of people with us) all had Pelican cases. If you keep the receipt though, apparently you don’t need to pay again in the future anywhere in Mexico?? Beer, wine, low end Tequila, soda, juices and food are all included until they run out. For our trip, the tequila lasted only 3 days but everything else was fine. After that, you pay $8/drink I believe. It didn’t seem like they were keeping track of this but on the last day, they definitely found you and had you settle up your bill. 
I hope this helps explain some of the questions we were unclear about before the trip. I would 100% recommend this trip and this boat and crew and if (when?) I go back would use Valentina again without hesitation. It is the most expensive dive trip I have done by far due to the fees but you won’t get a week of dives like this anywhere else in the world that I am aware of. I was told before the trip by someone that they had been there 4 times and they would not pay marine park fees that high anywhere else in the world but would pay them again for Socorro and I understand why!

We're still wishing we were back there sometimes. The grounds of the resort were beautiful, the staff for both the resort and the on site dive shop were wonderful, and the diving was amazing.

We had a fantastic time at Iberostar Wave in Cozumel this past week diving with Dressel. The accommodations were over the top, the variety of food unbelievable, and staff very friendly. The Dive Masters with Dressel were awesome. They took the time to help us all with determining our perfect dive weight on the first dive and continued to help refine that weight throughout the week. I highly recommend both the resort and Dressel dive company. A special shout out to the professional photographer who took dive pictures during our dives. The pictures are well worth the price. I recommend spending the money.

Phenomenal trip.  As always Dolphin makes sure the transfer process is well explained and goes seamlessly.  Resort is great, staff beyond exceptional and fantastic muck diving.  The divers with Dolphin are a great group which is why I live in Atlanta and dive with a Sacramento based shop (where I now also buy my gear).  Their service and personnel are exceptional.  There is a reason this was my 3rd trip to Atlantis Dumaguete and second with Dolphin.

Atlantis Resort Dumaguete - November 2024

The Peace Dive Boat was my first liveaboard experience and the first trip I booked with Dolphin Scuba. I wasn't sure how it was going to go but I can't say enough good things about my experience. The boat is old I'm not going to lie, but she's a trusty seaworthy vessel and I found my bunk 1A (near the stairs) extremely comfortable and cozy, (ear plugs are a must). The crew was great and the chef was AMAZING! And, last but not least the onboard hot tub was a God send. There is no other way to dive the CA coast (especially in December) than with the comforts the boat provided. If you're a fan of diving off the CA coast and are interested in checking out the Channel Islands, I  recommend the Peace Dive Boat, you won't be sorry and you'll likely be kind of sad (like I was) when the three day dive trip is over. It was an AWESOME experience! And as far as booking trips with Dolphin Scuba, I have three on the books and I'm looking forward to booking more!  The Dolphin Scuba team is excellent!  They are professional, focused on safety and they're an absolute blast!  I recommend checking out their website and seeing first hand for yourself!

Beqa Lagoon Resort Fiji - November 2024

I thought this was an excellent trip. One leg to Fiji was nice. The staff at the hotel and the Dive Master’s were excellent. The food at Beqa  lagoon resort was excellent as well. The diving was solid and the shark experience was fantastic.

This was an amazing experience.  The staff was top shelf; very friendly, accommodating, and supportive.  I cannot speak highly enough of them.

The only 2 issues with this resort were the ponds around the bungalows, and the bus ride to and from the airport to the docks.

The bus ride was horrible because of the seats in the bus,  They were small and cramped.  There was no padding to the seats and it was like sitting on plywood.  There was no room between the seats, so you had to regular stand in the bus to get any relief.  It would be better to take multiple vans than this horrific bus.

The ponds around the bungalows was a horrible breading ground for mosquitos.  The ponds were green and covered with algae.  They were ugly and unpleasant.  They need to be cleaned and filtered to prevent the mosquito problem.  I was really disappointed with this problem.  Simple maintenance and filtration would prevent this issue.

The SCUBA team was excellent.  They were attentive to the divers' needs.  Improvement would be better communication while under the water between the diver master and the divers.  Too many times the dive master would just swim off and not check on the status of the divers, including air pressure.  We had to check with each other to make sure we were doing okay.

The night dive was good.  I would like to see doing a different location when multiple night dives occur.  We did the same dive location both nights.

For the price, an afternoon dive (or 3 or 4 tanks total per day) should be included.  There is really nothing to do on the island, so more dives would be appropriate.

The food was generally good.  Breakfast was spot on each day.  Lunch was good, with a variety of choices.  Dinner was typically good, but generally the meats were overcooked, hard and dry.  Simple changes to the process would correct this.

My bungalow was fantastic.  It was clean and comfortable, and the bed was really nice.  Water pressure was low, and the hot water would kick on and off due to a pump issue.  I slept great each night.  Unfortunately, due to the mosquito issue described above, I could not sit out on the patio and enjoy that.  The mosquitos were too invasive.

The shark dive was fantastic.  The dive crew was alert and attentive to the sharks and kept us safe.

I would do this trip again.

Had a great time. The staff went out of their way to make our experience the best it can be. The vessel was not as clean as I remember it. Could use a head to toe cleaning. However the food and staff were great. 

As usual the service at Atlantis was exceptional. The Barista making the specialty coffees in the morning stunned everyone! The Dive Staff were very helpful assisting anyone with small difficulties. Always smiling and asking if there was anything they could do make things better! My hat comes of to all of the well trained staff on their diligent efforts to make our stay the most memorable ever. The abundance of turtles was icing on the cake. 

Atlantis Resort Puerto Galera - November 2024

I have been traveling to Atlantis Resort Dumagete yearly since 2011. From the moment you arrive until the day that you leave you are treated to some of the very best diving in the world, food that is as good carefully prepared, and a staff that remembers who you are and treats you like family.
I’ve never gotten tired of the plethora of different dive sites and diverse marine life. Lobsters, crabs, shrimp, nudibranchs, seahorses. You name it and you’re bound to see them.
Try it, you’ll love it!!!

Fantastic resort staff, excellent diving, and Steve Sr. was an outstanding trip leader. Would highly recommend booking this trip; we’ll be back!

Great trip!! The diving facility was top notch with a great concern for safety as well as providing a wonderful dive experience. Our divemaster, Orville, provided personal attention to our specific needs and helped make us better divers. The dive sites were very nice with beautiful coral and interesting underwater critters, and they were only minutes away from the resort. The trip to Verde Island was fantastic - well worth the extra expense. The Atlantis resort was also a treat with beautiful grounds, a very attentive staff, and excellent meals cooked by a talented chef. All in all, you couldn't ask for much more.

What a great trip. Eat, sleep, dive repeat. The crew was awesome. Very approachable and informative. The gang at Dolphin Scuba do a great job organizing and hosting these trips. I just signed up for another trip on the Peace next month. Great bang for your buck. Anacapa "Gold Fish Bowl" was my favorite dive site. We dove Santa Rosa, Santa Cruz and Anacapa. Can not wait to get back there. Hope I can get my new drysuit broke in by then. 

Channel Islands - August 2024

I had a great time. Diving was good. The food was good and plenty of it. The Peace dive boat staff were all friendly and helpful. The Dolphin staff were helpful and made sure that everything was on track. 

Channel Islands - October 2024

My son and I went on this trip to dive the kelp forest for the first time and check out spearfishing. Overall, this trip was fantastic, met some really nice people, had amazing dives, and enjoyed my time on the boat (Peace). Crew was amazing and the chef was incredible. Highly recommend and looking forward to our next dive trip aboard Peace!!

I cannot express how fun these Channel Islands trips are! These islands offer some the best diving conditions the west coast has to offer. The boat, the crew and the divers are all amazing. Due to the efficiency of the crew we were offered over 5 dives a day and a night dive. The crew really does go above and beyond to accommodate every diver on board. The food was prepared by a professionally trained chef that had a huge variety to his menu, everything was top notch quality. I still can not believe the value you get out of these trips, if you are looking for a fun quick action packed adventure look no further!  

I took the Channel Islands trip with Dolphin Scuba in August 2024. First and foremost the food was incredible. The chef onboard had a strong culinary background and every meal was completely different, he also made sure that anyone with dietary restrictions was accommodated. The diving was super, both for casual divers and avid underwater hunters. One diver brought up a 68 lb halibut, and we saw tons of lobsters hiding out. The highlight for me (other than the crew and awesome group of divers!) was seeing several giant black sea bass in Anacapa. I did 13 dives over 3 days, and particularly enjoyed the pinnacle dives. I highly recommend this trip for anyone wanting to see stunning underwater kelp forests, and people looking for a super convenient dive trip!

After 15 years, I decided to come back to the ocean, I went to dolphin where my kids learnt how to swim and I just can say, it was amazing. The whole experience, the people, organizers, crew members, THE CHEF, recommended 100%, I was forgotten how especial is being underwater watching a whole different world, thanks and I can't wait to join in another trip with dolphin 

We took a trip to Scuba club in Cozumel Mexico through Dolphin Scuba in July 2024. The dives were great. The shore diving was excellent. Overall a good trip and a good place to stay. Would recommend the Samsara restaurant close by. Going to the flea market close by and shopping there does get you great deals on clothing, gifts and other things you might want to buy.
